"It’s Time”: A Message to Teachers Ready for Change

"I know I need to take better care of myself … physically AND mentally. It’s time."
That’s the message I received recently from a teacher on the edge of a career pivot.
And honestly?
I felt it in my bones.
Teaching is a calling, a craft, a constant act of service. But it’s also—especially in today’s climate—a job that can pull at your health, your energy, and your sense of identity.
So when she said it was time, my response was simple:
"I'm proud of you for putting yourself, your health, your family first. Life isn’t supposed to be so hard."
She mentioned that she was working on her resignation letter.
I’d written one of those once too.
So I offered mine.
Just a little something to help her get started, or even just to feel seen in this big, scary moment.
And then I gently reminded her:
Once you send it, your access may be cut off right away. So before you go—make sure to back up anything important: your documents, evaluations, curricula, and notes you’ve created along the way.
Because this isn’t just about leaving something behind.
It’s about moving toward something better.
And here’s the truth:
Teachers have INSANE transferable skills.
Project management? Communication? Emotional intelligence? Data tracking? Public speaking? Adaptability? You’ve been doing all that and more—daily.
If you’re considering a pivot, know this:
You don’t need to “start over.”
You can find meaningful work that honors your talents.
You deserve a career that supports your well-being—not drains it.
You’re not alone in this.
I help teachers every day find paths into roles where they feel valued, respected, and fulfilled.
Curious what’s next for you?
Let’s talk about turning your teaching experience into your next dream role.
Your skills are in demand.
Your story is powerful.
And yes—
It’s time
